About the trekking

This tour lasts all day.

We depart early from the city of La Paz, taking a vehicle to Pongo, where the trekking starts.

The hike winds up through the Copacabana Mine Valley. The ascent is gradual and comfortable, taking about three to four hours.

The descent follows a pre-Columbian trail that leads to the small village of Chucura.
From there, we return to the city of La Paz, arriving in the late afternoon (6-7 pm).

Gallery Of Our Tour

This full-day hike is part of a structured acclimatization program designed to help visitors gradually adjust to the high-altitude conditions commonly encountered in the Bolivian Andes. It serves as a preparatory stage before embarking on the longer trekking routes offered by Andes Heritage Expeditions (AHE). By starting with a moderate day hike at intermediate elevations, participants can reduce the risk of altitude sickness, improve physical comfort, and enhance overall safety and enjoyment during more demanding treks that follow—especially important in Bolivia, where some trails exceed 4,500 meters.
